I believe that when we repeat certain action enough times it
becomes a habit and we start doing it subconsciously without even thinking
about.
We can use this part of our mind to our advantage and make a
lot of things much easier in our lives. If we want to make a change, we can
keep repeating the new action enough times for it to become a habit and we will
start doing it effortlessly. Subconscious actions are most efficient because we
don’t use our conscious mind to do it. We can start multitasking very easily,
we can concentrate on one thing while accomplishing a different thing without
even knowing about it. We can set a lot of our life on auto pilot and good
things will happen automatically, it might even feel like that the good things
happen on their own, without us doing much.
So imagine, if we could set our happiness on auto pilot. We
can be happy and even feel like we are not even working on it. This can have an
amazing effect on our life.
This is why we do need to pay attention to our habits. Sometimes,
even a good habit can change into a bad habit as our life change and we end up
with habits that are not good for our happiness any more. Changing habits can
be very hard, it depends how long we’ve had that habit for and how much we
enjoyed doing it.
I believe that the only person
that we can truly control is ourselves and therefore we can stop ourselves from
doing something we don't want to do. I’m not saying that it is easy but it’s
achievable and using our emotions will make it faster and easier.
I believe that we can’t stop a bad
habit if we feel happier when we doing it or are thinking about it. It’s easier
to get rid of a bad habit if we feel sad when we do it. It’s also easier to
create a good habit that is positively reinforced, that is we feel happy when
we do it. I mean to find thoughts that make us feel good or thoughts that bring
up the bad consequences of doing the thing that we want to change. I’m not
saying it will take overnight but it’s surely improving our chances of stopping
our bad habits considerably. Sometimes, just patience and being happy for every
little change can help too.
